Start with a match ID or a local file

Learn the two ways to open a replay and what to do when a public recording expires or a file cannot be parsed.

Start with a match ID or a local file

Open by match ID

Enter a match ID on the home page or replay entry page to fetch an available public recording. Once it is downloaded and parsed, you can play it, seek on the timeline and adjust playback speed.

Import a local replay

Choose a local .dem file, or import a .bz2, .zst, .zstd or .gz archive directly without extracting it first. Both the input and decompressed file must be no larger than 384 MiB.

Local files are decompressed and parsed on your device without being uploaded. You do not need to sign in to Steam to use local replays.

When a replay is unavailable

A public recording may not be ready yet or may have expired. Try again later or import a local file for the same match. Damaged or incompatible older replays may still fail to parse.
